Jodhpur, the famous blue city in the Thar Desert of Rajasthan; although I think it was probably a bit bluer twenty or more years ago – before new development and lax controls allowed people to replace old with new and blue with brown.
Anyway, imagine my surprise when out early one morning looking for blue in the early sunlight, on walking towards Sardar Market and hearing the sounds of a military brass band warming up in the shadow of the famous Clock Tower. And not just any military band, this was the Border Security Force band – clad in white, scarlet and gold dress uniforms – mounted atop getting on for one hundred camels. Not the sights and sounds of just any Indian dawn – India continues to surprise…
But no surprise to this bloke, either completely deaf or just difficult to impress.
