Blaenau Ffestiniog is probably best known for the Ffestiniog Railway – the world’s oldest narrow gauge railway that terminates there, having made its way over the 13.5 mile route from Porthmadog harbour. But there are other things to look out for in the slate-dominated landscape of the surrounding hills.
Here on the B4391 out of town towards Bala, shortly after dawn, the howl of this Porsche 993’s air-cooled flat six is at least as evocative as the shrill steam whistles of the railway’s locomotives.
