The good thing about going often to the same place is that things are where you expect to find them; but aren’t always the same. The weather changes, people are there – or not. You get to know the good bars and where to find the best food, the best walks, the fewest people.
From a photography perspective, I know when the best light is and what I want behind it. It also means there’s time and place to experiment – if I’m just “grabbing the shot” I’m probably not going to grab it like this. These beach huts are often photographed and often photographed by me (this January I noticed many of them need at least a lick of paint).
But every time now, I try and photograph them with fresh eyes – and often a different lens; sometimes, carrying a tripod helps.
